Supercars FAQ Guide
Do all the race cars run on bp fuel?
The entire Repco Supercars Championship field has been fuelled with bp fuel since 2020 and from the 2023 season will be fuelled with our new bp E75 Racing Fuel.
Does bp design and manufacture the fuel?
bp E75 Racing Fuel was specially designed by bp’s global fuel technology experts, the same team behind our bp Ultimate fuels. bp supplies all the blend components for the fuel and we work with RaceFuels PTY LTD to blend the bp E75 Racing Fuel according to bp’s formulation. bp’s fuel technologists monitor and test every batch of bp E75 Racing Fuel – our focus is on ensuring that the fuel we deliver to all the teams is consistently high-quality to ensure they can run at optimal performance.
Is the fuel the same as bp supplied in previous years?
No. bp E75 Racing Fuel is a new and exclusive, lower carbon* race fuel, comprised of more than 80% second generation fuel components – including a unique, advanced bio gasoline – that are sourced from renewable feedstocks, and blended with our existing premium bp Ultimate 98 Unleaded gasoline.
*New bp E75 Racing Fuel has a lower Well-to-Wheel carbon intensity compared to the fuel produced and supplied by bp for last season’s Repco Supercars Championship.
What is the unique advanced bio gasoline?
The advanced bio gasoline in bp E75 Racing Fuel is synthesised from a waste bio feedstock resulting in a product with a very similar chemical composition to a conventional fossil derived gasoline, but with a much lower Well-to-Wheel carbon intensity.
Apart from the lower carbon attributes are there any other benefits?
bp E75 Racing Fuel has also been specially formulated to help extend the range of the race cars compared to last season’s fuel, which means burning fewer litres of fuel for the same race.
Has this new formulation been tested in real engines?
Yes. Supercars, GM and Ford have undertaken an extensive engine performance, durability and range testing program over the past 18 months in Australia and the United States.
How does bp fuel work with Race Fuels?
bp works with RaceFuels PTY LTD to blend bp E75 Racing Fuel according to bp’s formulation and then to distribute the finished fuel to the tracks for Australia and New Zealand Supercars events. bp fuel technologists and RaceFuels PTY LTD control the blend, validation and testing prior to it being released to Supercars.
Will bp sell bp E75 Racing Fuel at bp retail sites?
At this time bp E75 Racing Fuel will not be available for customer purchase - it’s a fuel specially developed for the Supercars championship. bp’s focus remains on delivering our premium bp Ultimate 98 ULP fuel for Australian drivers. bp Ultimate is the same fuel that is used to fuel the vehicles competing in the Bathurst 12-hour event.
